LAYING LOW
I had a productive outing to Ma-le’l Dunes on Monday. This is an example of the imagery that I created. I printed this one in black and white, and I think it is a keeper. I have several others as well from this particular outing that I think made the cut. I am thinking about saving them for an upcoming exhibit.

ANOTHER GRAND HOME IN ARCATA
I received some comments about the distracting nature of power lines in some of these images. It is very easy to remove them (heck, with Photoshop I do not even need to climb any poles nor face the hazards of electrocution). My attitude this morning is that the wires are there in reality so for today they stay.
I often do remove intruding wires. I did so a couple of days ago with the photograph of the church in Eureka. I suppose the issue is more about what is the purpose of a particular photograph. If it is a historical documentation, then I think wires, signs, litter, etc should stay. On the other hand, if I am creating an interpretation of what I see as part of an artistic expression, then I feel freer to do as I wish with all aspects of the image.

A BIT MORE FROM YESTERDAY’S STUDY OF ARCATA

“Recycled youth”
to me has an odd connotation
what about “reuse”
does that better describe me?
after all I once was a youth
I have photos to prove it
nowadays my peers assert
that they are young at heart
but then I peer into the mirror
and see rather clearly
that it rings of truth
I really am a recycled youth
